
Visegrad Audiovisual LAB Launches the International Day of Audiovisual Education
On August 27, 2025, all four Visegrad countries will host the International Day of Audiovisual Education – a special event dedicated to everyone shaping the field of audiovisual media and education. From teachers, lecturers, and educators to institutions, cultural centres, and media professionals, all are invited to join.
Expect a friendly, informal atmosphere with an inspiring international guest, opportunities to connect and plenty of space for open exchange. The day will showcase hands-on examples of good practice and tested educational methodologies from across the V4 region – all with a strong focus on audiovisual education and production for young audiences.
Participation in the event is free of charge. Due to limited capacity, prior registration is required. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Facilitators
Anna Równy – a film education trainer and methodologist, senior specialist for education and film culture at the Wajda Film Centr, and content coordinator of the nationwide project Education Young Horizons. She is the author of lesson plans and texts related to film education and a co-author of the Polish language textbook “Ponad słowami” (“Beyond Words”).
Karolina Śmigiel – film producer, cultural project manager, film educator, and co-founder of UNI-SOLO Studio, where she produced the documentary “The Dragon Spring” (dir. J. Wszędybył), “Letters from Wolf Street” (dir. A. Talwar), and co-produced “The End of the Valley of Tears” (dir. J. Wszędybył) and “Out from the Shadows” (dir. P. Seraudie). She is a member and co-founder of the Dziki Bez Open Association, and co-creator and coordinator of the Festival of Abstract Thought. She is currently affiliated with the Wajda Film Center, where she serves as the artistic director of LET’S DOC – a documentary film festival for young audiences – and as the creator and program coordinator of The LET’S DOC LAB. She also coordinates the international project FilmED and serves as a media education program coordinator at the Association of Creative Initiatives “ę”. Between 2016 and 2023, she was a lecturer at the Warsaw Film School’s Faculty of Film Production Management. As a curator, she developed an original collection of Polish films for children for the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute (FINA).
Sebastian Mulder – Dutch filmmaker who explores the conflicts and interactions between humans and other nature, and the influence of technology on these relationships. His short essayistic documentaries, in which he likes to experiment with unconventional forms, have been screened and awarded at numerous festivals around the world. His graduation film for his audiovisual media degree at the University of Arts in Utrecht, “Nature: All Rights Reserved” (2016), was screened at Palm Springs, Ji.hlava and awarded Best European Student film at Go Short. In 2021, “NAYA – Der Wald hat tausend Augen” premiered at Hot Docs and won the Best Documentary Form award at Kurzefilmtage Winterthur. In 2023 his short documentary “And a Happy New Year” premiered at IDFA, winning the Best Youth Documentary Award and in 2024 was awarded the LYNX AWARD in the Young Docs 10+ category during the 2nd LET’S DOC Youth Documentary Film Festival. Sebastian was selected for the VPRO Dorst Pitch (2017), the IDFA – Zapp Doc Lab (2021) and the Filmforward x IDFA Vrijplaats (2024). He is currently working on a videoinstalation entitled “Nature: A Self(ie)” and his first feature lenght documentary. Additionally, Sebastian teaches at photography museum FOAM and Filmmuseum Eye in Amsterdam, conducting film and photography workshops and tours.
The initiative is led by krutón (Czechia), in close partnership with the National Film Institute – Film Archive (Hungary), the Wajda Film Centre (Poland) and Kino Úsmev (Slovakia).
The project is co-financed by the governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
