For Schools

Supporting film education in schools is one of the pillars of the Wajda Film Centre. We have developed the “Trampolina do Kina on Demand” workshop offer, which can be conducted both at our headquarters and at schools or educational institutions. We invite kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools to cooperate. We can prepare practical film workshops, screenings combined with film culture workshops and broad psycho-education, and carry them out at our Studio U20 (Al. Ujazdowskie 20, Warsaw) or at your school.

About workshops

All of our workshops are led by experienced educators and filmmakers – permanent employees and collaborators of the Centre, as well as experts from other institutions connected with film education and psychoeducation.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Preschool children (5-6 years old) and primary school students (grades I-VIII)

Children and youth will become amateur filmmakers. How can you become a filmmaker in one day? During the workshop, participants will learn the basics of creating stop-motion animation, write a script, create a storyboard, design sets, and develop characters. Using traditional animation techniques (cut-out, clay, pixilation), they will direct their own animated film on any topic, and explore sound design. After the session, each participant will receive their completed and soundtracked film. This workshop teaches the basics of stop-motion animation, creating movement illusions, and animating at home.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades I-VIII) and secondary school students

What is it like to be a filmmaker? How can you create an entirely different, magical world in just a few frames? And even act in it? These and many other filmmaking questions will be answered during practical film workshops, where we will recreate a scene from a jointly chosen film or book. The session will serve as an introduction to a new form of art, stimulating creative and technical passion, and teaching project organization in a group. Participants will take on various roles – actors, directors, cinematographers, sound engineers, set designers, and costume designers – naturally selecting roles suited to their interests.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades V-VIII) and secondary school students

“Film Watch” is a practical workshop offering an intense, condensed format for deepening filmmaking skills. We will learn the secrets of framing, shooting, and editing film material. This exercise also allows students to work as a team, with attention to individual competencies. Ultimately, “Film Watch” shows that everything can inspire a film – a smile, a word, or an object that carries the story forward. Everything depends on the creators.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades VI-VIII) and secondary school students

These workshops introduce key concepts of film form and technique. Students will learn how to use various film techniques in different methods of analyzing audiovisual works. For secondary schools, the program includes workshops on the basics of creating a video essay as a modern form of film analysis and critique. The session will also encourage a deeper look at other cultural works.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades I-VIII) and secondary school students

It is sometimes difficult to start a conversation with students about an important topic at a given moment. A film can help by emotionally engaging the viewer and prompting reflection. We offer several psychoeducational workshops addressing socio-emotional competence, supporting class/group integration, and promoting a sense of agency among young people. The topics of our sessions focus on important issues for children and youth, with films (fiction, documentary, and animation) as the starting point for discussion.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades IV-VIII) and secondary school students

We believe in the power of documentary films for young audiences. They offer diverse perspectives and a broad spectrum of emotions. We invite you to screenings of documentaries, followed by workshop discussions based on the current curriculum. The goal of the session is to start a dialogue based on the issues presented in the film and to recognize what a documentary is, how it can be analyzed, and discussed. The workshop will be led by documentary filmmaker Katarzyna Lesisz.

This workshop focuses on one of 10 films included in the “Documentary Essentials.” These films not only offer cognitive functions but also contribute to developing students’ socio-emotional competencies. The documentary genre helps us observe the world around us in its true forms, without manipulation.

These workshops focus on 10 selected films, addressing topics important to young people, such as family relationships, peer conflicts, addiction, and life in the age of social media. The workshops combine psychoeducational elements with knowledge of film form, and the films are accompanied by educational materials.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades V-VIII) and secondary school students

These workshops focus on the interactive film “Children of the Maharaja,” which discusses the theme of offering help. The students will explore positive aspects of the film’s plot and engage in exercises for emotional awareness, before collectively developing a plan to support a selected individual or group.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades VI-VIII) and secondary school students (grades I-III)

These workshops combine elements of improvisational theater and interactive games, focusing on developing socio-emotional competencies. They are inspired by the play “Zemsta” and its film adaptation by Andrzej Wajda, aiming to integrate groups, build trust, and enhance communication and cooperation skills.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Primary school students (grades I-III)

Inspired by the work of Maria Kownacka, these workshops focus on her famous book “Plastusiowy Pamiętnik.” Students will create their own Plastusie figures, animate them using stop-motion, and create their own adventures. They will also learn interesting facts about the production of the animated series based on the book.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Secondary school students

These workshops explore the life and legacy of the writer Marek Hłasko, focusing on the role of words and images in creating a cultural icon. Students will critically analyze various sources and explore how Hłasko’s image has evolved.
